FILL YOUR PLATES WITH COLOUR

Each different coloured fruit and vegetable has unique nutrients that offer health benefits. Carrots? They contain beta-carotene supporting eye health and vitamin C for an immunity boost. Blueberries? Rich in anthocyanins, an antioxidant class that helps to prevent premature ageing, free radical damage and inflammation. The more colours, the more benefits!

LEAVE THE SKIN ON

Don’t let peeling your vegetables and fruit be the burden preventing you from eating them! Give them a good wash and leave the skin on – the skin contains concentrated sources of nutrients, including fibre, essential for gut health.

USE SMALLER PLATES

Enjoy your favourite dishes using smaller utensils and plates to eat them. Your eyes think you’re getting a bigger portion than you are, and the smaller utensils means it will take you longer to eat. This helps you to eat more mindfully and gives your stomach a chance to say you’re full before overdoing it.

BUMP UP YOUR PROTEIN

Consuming adequate amounts of protein at each meal helps you stay full for longer, preventing diet-busting snack sessions and overeating at your next meal. It also builds and helps to maintain lean muscle mass – your body’s natural fat burner! Aim for 15-20g of protein per main meal and around 5-10g per snack for women, slightly more for men.

GO GROCERY SHOPPING AFTER A NUTRITIOUS BREAKFAST

You’re less likely to let hunger, stress or tiredness rule your decisions in the morning after you’ve eaten, helping you to bypass cravings for a sweet treat or sneaky extras. Even better, make a morning of it at your local farmers markets to stock up on plenty of fresh produce, skipping the temptations of the supermarket isles completely!
